Editor: The LC Unibody connector is a key product you introduced in this
exhibition. Could you introduce more about this product Compared to other
Unibody LC connector, what is difference Is SENKO the only supplier of
this product in the world
CFOL: LC單體連接器是SENKO此次光博會展示的重點產(chǎn)品,關于這個產(chǎn)品您能否更詳細地介紹一下?相對其它公司的類似單體的LC連接器,扇港的產(chǎn)品有哪些優(yōu)勢呢?全球只有SENKO可以提供這種產(chǎn)品嗎?
Sharon:
Compared with the conventional multi-piece LC, the LC Unibody consists of a
one-piece molded housing that provides excellent optical performance and
superior mechanical strength. The new LC Unibody can withstand a side load
of up to 5 pounds with very low insertion loss change, similar to a 2.5 mm (SC,
FC, ST) standard connector. The material is ruggedized, the latch is much
stronger, and an internal strength member provides extra support under load.
莎倫:相對常規(guī)的多體LC,這種采用一體化的外殼模具工藝構成的單體LC具有良好的光學性能和優(yōu)異的機械性能。類似2.5mm(SC,F(xiàn)C,ST)標準連接器,扇港的LC單體連接器能夠承受側面達5磅的拉力同時保持非常低的插入損耗。同時LC單體連結器所采用的這種材料非常堅固耐用,拴鎖力很強,內在的加強件結構提供了在外部作用力下額外的支撐。
Thanks to a close relationship with the designer OFS (formerly Lucent
Technologies), we were awarded the very first license to manufacture the LC
Unibody. To our knowledge, SENKO is the only company which offers the
product aside from OFS. We believe we were chosen as the first licensee
because OFS recognized our high standard of manufacturing. Potential
licensees must submit not only their products but also their manufacturing
procedures to rigorous independent testing before OFS will issue an LC
Unibody certification. Only licensees who successfully meet the test
requirements will be permitted to use the OFS Quality LC trademark.
SENKO is one of the few companies to hold licenses for all the major
Small Form Factor (SFF) designs and we are confident that our product
will meet all requirements.

Editor: On your website, there is a phrase “Where optical fibers end,
SENKO innovations begin”. Can you give us some explanation on this
CFOL:在扇港網(wǎng)站有這樣一句口號“Where optical fibers end, SENKO innovations begin”,您能跟我們詳細解釋一下嗎?
Sharon: This phrase was the original concept of SENKO’s General Manager,
Mark W. Johnson. At the time, Mark was leading a brainstorming session with
SENKO’s regional managers. We were trying to think of a corporate tag line
which expressed in one phrase what we do at SENKO Advanced
Components.
莎倫:這句口號是扇港總經(jīng)理Mark W. Johnson的最初創(chuàng)意。那時,Mark組織的一個公司區(qū)域經(jīng)理的腦力震蕩會上,我們試圖用一句話來為扇港先進元器件供應商的形象加個標簽。
Up until the year 2000, SENKO had been
using the phrase “Connecting the World”
throughout our marketing materials.
This phrase suited us very well as a
connector supplier. However SENKO
was quickly expanding its line of products
to include polishing equipment and films,
test and measurement equipment,
and new Fiber To The Home components, including PLC Waveguide Splitters,
Fiber Arrays and many others. We realized we needed a new phrase to
broaden our image, just as we were broadening our range of products.

We wanted a phrase which emphasized our ability to innovate and customize
fiber optic connection components, since that was (and still is) a key factor
differentiating SENKO from other connector companies who were only able to
offer a standard product line. Our products are related to fiber, but of course
we do not provide fiber or cables ourselves. We narrowed it down to
“We make / customize / distribute products which work at the end points
of the fiber”. Mark came up with the more eloquent version of this
phrase, “Where optical fibers end, SENKO innovations begin.”
我們想要一個能夠既反映我們的創(chuàng)新能力又能反映我們可以根據(jù)客戶需求靈活定制產(chǎn)品能力的口號。我們需要用這個口號來區(qū)分扇港不同于其它只能提供標準產(chǎn)品的連接器供應商。 我們的產(chǎn)品與光纖有關,當然我們不提供光纖光纜本身。我們制作 / 定制 / 銷售光纖終端的各種產(chǎn)品。 Mark最后終于得出這個更為合適的口號:“Where optical fibers end, SENKO innovations begin.” (扇港創(chuàng)新始于光纖結束的地方)
Editor: I also have interest on your PLC products. As I know the PLC splitter
market in Japan emerge again. How does SENKO look at the PLC product
market
CFOL:我們對扇港的PLC產(chǎn)品也很有興趣,并且據(jù)我們所知,PLC分路器在日本市場再次浮現(xiàn)商機,扇港是如何看待PLC產(chǎn)品市場呢?
Sharon:SENKO recognized the significance of the market for FTTH-related
products several years ago. At that time, we assembled a product
development
team with expertise in the optical waveguide technology used in
optical power splitting devices, a key component in FTTH.
In FTTH applications, the PLC style splitter has a powerful advantage over
the conventional FBT coupler technology. The PLC style splitter delivers
lower loss and higher uniformity over larger split ratios, including 1x16
and 1x32.
莎倫:早幾年前,扇港就認識到FTTH市場相關產(chǎn)品的重要意義。那時,我們針對FTTH應用的PLC分路器組織了一個具有光波導技術經(jīng)驗的專業(yè)產(chǎn)品研發(fā)團隊。在FTTH領域,PLC分路器對于傳統(tǒng)的FBT耦合技術具有強大的優(yōu)勢!LC分路器可以在包括1x16,1x32等大的分光比下具有更低的損耗且保持更高的一致性。
Currently Japan is leading the developed world in the implementation of FTTH
systems. The United States and Canada are now also becoming active in
developing test areas for FTTH. China is still in the early stages; however, we
intend to contribute to the development of this market with our strong line of
FTTH components, including the PLC Splitter others. We feel we are
well-positioned for the FTTH components market here and abroad. We are
now able not only to supply the key components of the Optical Wave Guide
Splitter module, but also looking for partners who may be interested
to participate in our Waveguide Technology Transfer program.

Editor: You told me Senko opened an office in Shenzhen China.
How about your China market strategy What is Senko's aim

CFOL:您說過,扇港剛剛在中國設立了深圳辦事處,扇港準備在中國市場應用什么樣的策略?中國市場的目標呢?
Sharon: Our strategy in China is to continue to build our customer base
through our local offices in Shenzhen and Shanghai. Basically speaking,
we are seeking customers who are looking for long term global exposure
for their business. This is our strong point, as our brand is recognized
worldwide among fiber optic companies.
莎倫:我們在中國的策略是通過深圳和上海的office來繼續(xù)鞏固我們的客戶基礎,基本上可以說,我們正在尋找全球范圍能夠長期發(fā)展的客戶,這是我們的專長,我們的品牌在光纖通信領域是世界公認的。
In addition, part of our strategy is to lead the market in terms of product quality
and testing. Many of our components have met the test requirements
stablished by the international test authorities, including Telcordia, TIA/EIA
and the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS). We know the specifications well,
and the quality of our products is real proof of our experience related to
testing.

Editor: How do you think of Key Advantages of SENKO in this
fiber optics market
CFOL:您怎樣看待扇港領先光通信市場的核心競爭優(yōu)勢?
Sharon:One of our main strengths is that we are a volume supplier.
The quality of our product is consistent even when produced in very
large quantities – 10s of thousands and even 100s of thousands.
Volume manufacturing is one thing with which we are very experienced,
and when compared side by side with companies who do not have similar
experience, our products stand out. Many companies today are able to
meet the initial component specifications of their customers, and provide
nice-looking samples. However, when a large volume order comes in,
consistent production cannot be maintained, and that is where the
trouble begins. The component tolerances fall outside of the specification,
the product is found not suitable for use, and post sales support may well
be unavailable.
莎倫:最主要的一個因素是我們是一個量產(chǎn)產(chǎn)品供應商。我們產(chǎn)品的質量具有非常好的一致性,甚至產(chǎn)品數(shù)量大至成千上萬時也是這樣。我們在量產(chǎn)方面的經(jīng)驗極為豐富,跟沒有類似經(jīng)驗的公司比起來,我們的產(chǎn)品就顯得更為突出。如今很多公司都能提供符合最初標準的產(chǎn)品給他們的客戶,有的還可以提供非常精致的樣品。 但是,一旦大量的定單來臨,始終如一的生產(chǎn)便不能被保持,于是麻煩開始啦,產(chǎn)品指標不能達到規(guī)格要求,售后服務也沒法做下去。
Another strength is our product range. Over time we have also developed our
brand to represent a full line of connector-related products. These include
field installable connectors, hybrid adapters, fiber optic polishing films,
olishing equipment, test equipment and many others. Having a wide range of
products allows us to work together with our customers in each step of their
own production process. During this process, we get to understand their
needs better, while they get to know and remember the name SENKO.
